Abstract

Bharathi is an era. He is a multi-evolutionary creator. Even though his creativity was expressed in various forms of literature, his poems are the most talked about and admired by people. However, no one knows much about his speeches. During the period from 1905 to 1921, Bharathiyar gave many lectures. There are only eight discourses among them. Those eight discourses reflect the state of crisis Bharathi was in and the tribulations of our Indian nation. At the same time, Bharathi's courage and eloquence are also captured in these speeches. Although they appear to be direct advice to the youth, they are infused with social, national, and patriotism. Anyone can speak clearly without fear in a normal environment. But the context and background in which Bharathi is speaking is unimaginable. In that situation, Bharathi's fearless delivery of a social concept amidst many bans makes it worth thinking about and admirable. In every discourse, Bharathi points out some general qualities that the youth of the day should possess. They are compassion for living beings, national welfare and patriotism, the aim of liberation, striving for liberation, a sense of unity, and taking historical scholars as pioneers. This study is based on illustrating the context and ideologies of the eight discourses.
