Abstract
A well renowned teacher and collector Dr M. Rajendran has provoked to read “Siru maraikuripinai and Puthinam”. He started to write his ‘1801’ book after realising that our own people failed to understand the heroism of our mighty warriors. East India company has killed many front-line warriors and those who survived were planned to deport to other countries. Generally, deportation was considered as more severe than the death penalty. The book Kala Paani reveals the story of 73 brave men who were deported to Penang from Tuticorin port. This article describes about those deported men’s lives, their families struggle to meet their brave men and the women’s efforts to meet their men, their language proficiency, ingenuity, tacts, experiences, and human nature.
