Abstract

Birth of human is a gift and that is why Auvaiyar says that giving birth as human being is a gift and it is rare. Both men and women are important in worldly life. Relationships are the main reason for the ups and downs in a society. In the beginning matriarchal society developed and later patriarchal society started and after this woman are not given equal freedom. Today’s world view women as an object who does all the household duties. Women are controlled by men. This runs like a formula that men to rule and women to nurture. Even today there are many beliefs like woman was created using a man’s rib, lord Easen gave half of his boy to create a woman. The article discusses about women’s responsibility of maintaining a home, bearing children, marital violence, family violence and in addition it describes how a woman can get her freedom and how she can be equally treated.
