Abstract

Literature is a mirror of the life of man. Due to the lack of time to read the classics in accordance with the change of time, many of the minor literature genres have been acquired. On that basis, famous kinds of minor literature such as Pillai Thamizh, Kovai, Bharani, Ula, Thoothu, etc., are featured. From that point of view, the researcher has chosen Varadhar Nenjuvidu Thoothu as his title in the Thoothu literature. This study is based on data on the period at which the minor literature originated, the interpretation of the word ‘Chitrilakiyam’, the significance of the word Chitrilakiyam, especially the semantics of the thoothu, the types of thoothu, the specialties of the Thoothu literature, and the moral principles in the Thoothu literature. This study is based on data on the principles of morality, the impermanence of worldly life, the degradation of human birth, the way to attain the benefit of birth, the destruction of sensuality, the dangers of human birth, the way in which the world can rise, the use of dasaavatharam, etc.
