Abstract

The Sangam literature poems prove that the ancient Tamils gave priority to family relations. The development of science and technology, the proliferation of machines, and new ideas that emerged in modern times have brought about changes in family relations. Social media such as mobile phones, Facebook, YouTube, the web, movies, etc., have alienated man from family relationships. They have expanded personal communication to the world. In this situation, in families, individual selfishness, acting in accordance with the circumstances, and fake love are identified as postmodern relations. There are compulsions and confusions due to the lack of consensus between family relationships. This article is explained as examining the postmodern context and family relations in modern Tamil poetry on the conditions of the mother-in-law-daughter-in-law relationship, the relationship between the mother and the child, the loneliness and mourning of the mother who is separated from the son, the actions of the father and the reaction of the child.
