Abstract
‘Selladha Panam’ is a tamil novel that won the shahitya academy award for the year 2020. When “the Life partner” chosen by a women herself becomes a mistake, her life becomes a miserable one. When people who tie the wedding knot based on Love ends in a failure, it is considered that Love itself has failed by the Society. When Infatuation is believed as Love and the Partners who commit and engage their life in wedding knot based on these basic instincts sufferings and misunderstandings arose. Family life will not be a blissful one when there is no forgiveness and sharing of Love. Suspecting a women and making her subjunctive will lead only towards further problems. Freedom and free will is necessary for women, just like it is for men in Family Life. Inspite of Rectifying one’s mistake and leading an irresponsible life on the side of a Man will only makes the life of a women further miserable. This is Portrayed in the novel, where the mindset of a lady who suffers from all the above calamous. In a life full of Doubt and trouble, death seems to her as a door of escape. The title of the novel signifies this theme that “after a period of time and consequences in life, Money will be of no value Selladha Panam”.
