Abstract
Language is not just a word but it is the lifeblood of every human race. Language is very essential for man to live a stable life. Language and human life are inseparable like a double-barreled guns. Literature is what emerges from language. The people who speak their language have defined certain definitions of how literature should be composed. In that way, some literary theories have appeared in different countries, in different languages, and in different periods. These theories help in reviewing the literature. Morphology is one of those principles. The theory of morphology originated in Russia. Image is the overall shape of many functionally united elements in a work. That is what constitutes art. It was first introduced by Victor Erlich in 1955 by publishing the book Russian Formalism: History Doctrine. After that Boris Eichenbaum, Roman Jacobson, Tomoshiovsky, Yurikinyanov etc. emerged as morphologists. Morphologists cite some of the basic elements of morphology. They are Defamiliarisation, Structure of Tale, Free, Bound, Motivation and Realism. This article examines the manner in which all these elements are found in the Kurinjikali songs of Sangam literature. Poet Kapilar composed Kurinjikali songs according to the grammar of Kalipa. When examining the techniques of morphology in this, some techniques can be found in some songs. Also the literary features, commentary and phonemes in morphology are explained in the context of the Kaalithogai.
