Abstract

Introduction of epic Silapathikaram and the purpose of the epic are mentioned in the introductory part of this article. The explanation and origin of worship are described in detail. The rituals mentioned in Silapathikaram and their purpose are explained. Places of worship, rituals performed in temples and rituals of castes are explained. Shiva worships, Tirumal worships, Kotravai worships, Indra worships, Murugan worships, the red-headed Kannagi worship, and the differences between Koil and Kottam are explained. In the conclusion, it is said that Silapathikaram rituals are suitable for the worships of five land forms.
