Abstract

We call the Lord in many names such as God, Deity, Lord, and Bhagavan and so on. The thought of God didn’t appeared today or yesterday, it appeared two thousand years ago. At earlier stage man worshipped nature as God. They considered Sun, Moon, wind, fire, tree, plant and vine as God. Man realized that there is a power higher than himself in this world and as a result they began to worship something as God. Everything that man feared became God in the beginning. Man regarded everything beyond his control as God. Then many gods like Shiva, Thirumal, Brahman, and Murugan appeared. They started worshiping the idols. Denoting the state of attaining God only after death. Alvars and the Nayanmars also followed this path. They believed the benefit of birth is to reach God
