Abstract

Epic occupies a very high place in Tamil literature. Countless epics have appeared and continue to grow to till today. In Tamil Epic is called serialization. It is divided into perungappiyam and Sirukappiyam. Life virtues are very necessary for today's practical life. An abundance of virtues are found in Valaiyapathi one of the five epics of Tamil literature. It can be known from the speeches of the narrators that Epic Valayapathi was very popular at one time. Valayapathi explains in detail the virtues of a chaste heroine, the benefits of bearing children, the sin of stealing, telling lies, killing other living beings, etc. Valayapathi clarifies the impermanence of youth and impermanence of wealth. Valayapathi expounds various virtues to improve human life. This article tries to explain the basic virtues required for life through Valayapathi.
