Abstract

Many beliefs prevail among primitive races. Many of those beliefs have reached the Sangam period and are qstill alive today. Habits are the necessity of human society. Inheritance is the process by which individual habits are adopted by groups of people in association with time and becomes routine, tradition is something that comes naturally from psychological homogeneity, and habit is a learned process. The old proverb says that thehabit is essential for development. The continuation of the habit is a kind of development and the custom is a social one. The custom is formed by morals and actions, that is, the habitual action is the habit. In this way, the aim of this article is to explain about the custom and belief found in Ettuthogai anthology.
