Abstract

Tamils are the masters of hospitality. Among the duties of domestic life, hospitality is the chief thing. You can find this best feature of Tamil people in all the Tamil literary works. The Tamils who have hospitality as the lifeblood of their lives have lived with the thought of 'participatory diversity as the main principle of life'. Strangers are called guests. It is one of the characteristic of Tamil people to treat newcomers with kindness. The husband and wife who lead this life are obliged to their immediate relatives. Apart from that, it is their duty to provide good food and shelter to all who come in search of their home. Hospitality cannot be practiced by the wife alone in the absence of husband. It can only be done if both minds are united. Even if the mind of one of the two is different, the party will not go well, so it is essential that the husband and wife are of similar feelings to make the party. This article is organized in a way to highlight hospitality which is one of the Tamil cultures which is reflected in the literature.
