Abstract

Even today many of the educated men still use the same retrogressive methods in approaching women. Tamil heritage, Tamil culture has been created by men. Due to this in modern life women are facing many problems and are forced to destroy themselves due to some diseases. From time to time sufferings of female, their characteristics and so on has been recorded. Feminists understood the problems of women, freed them from the problems and gave voice to women to get all the rights as equal to men. In that case, what were the rights of the woman in the society? How were they wrapped up in the blanket of tradition? This article examines how women are portrayed from Ancient literature to modern literature.
