Abstract
Energy is essential for the functioning of the human body. The cells of the body can be healthy only if such energy is available in sufficient quantities continuously. This energy can be obtained from the food we eat. Food science is the study of nutrients in food, their quantity, how it is digested and how the digested food is converted into energy by the cells. In science, nutrients present in food can be classified into three types. 1. Protein 2. Carbohydrates 3. Fats Apart from these, many vitamins and minerals are found in food. They contain fibre and water. Science calculates the amount of these nutrients in every food. Similarly, many books in Tamil literature deal with the science of food. In the Etiquette of Etiquette, one of the eighteen books of Keezhkanakku, we will discuss the food, the way of eating and serving food in detail. "Those who give food are the ones who give life Eating is the bread of food" (Puram 18:19-20) they had measured their eating. Knowing that eating gluttony can cause disease and eating small food can cause weakness and disease. Our ancestors formulated the principle that "there are only two things that eat and wear" (Puram 61-6).
