Abstract

Food is not only a basic need for survival in Tamil tradition, but also a person's five senses can be controlled by his diet. As such food is offered to the Lord, it gives strength to the body and mind, Palandamizhars believe.  Not only that, but food was also valued as an attribute of hospitality. This article highlights the food traditions of Palanthamijar found in the works of U.ve.Sa.
