Abstract

Through his poems Balasubramanian's he elucidates the complicated practice of dowry, the status of widows, the hardships faced by women in the society, the women who engage in prostitution due to poverty, and how women try to free themselves from the patriarchal society. It can be seen that the sexual violence that has been plaguing the society from ancient times is mostly mentioned in his poems. Women are the victims of sexual violence. The poems make us realize that the widowed women are also suffering from this situation and that women are trying to get rid of those troubles.
