Abstract
From ancient times to modern times, every community has had its own clan business. Food and clothing are very essential for a human being. Farmers are involved in food production, and weavers are involved in clothing production. The weavers are the main reason why people wear clothes in that way. As a country develops in the field of science, the occupations undertaken by the people in that country also change. The textile industry is one of the industries that has undergone such changes. That industry is being mechanized. Hence, the loom weaving industry (after 1970) declined. So, they face various problems. Subrabharathimanian, one of the communal thinkers, has written about such problems of weavers in the novel ‘Tharinaada’. That novel, ‘Tharinaada’ is examined in this article. Weavers face various problems while working on their home looms, tying cloths in the warp on government public roads in front of their houses; giving the woven material to the employer, joining the weaving workers' cooperative society and purchasing the products from the cooperative society. They face various kinds of problems and are not able to do their family business regularly. They face cultural issues as they are forced to struggle for their children's education, marriage, and even daily food due to business regression. Such cultural issues are explored in this article.
