In the process of learning, the learners commit errors while speaking and writing. Through constant practice and proper usage, they gradually avoid errors in their language. It is not possible for a teacher or a learner to get rid of this problem without practicing the language. As far as the Tamil language is concerned, it is learnt as a foreign language in some countries and as a second language in other states of India. The concept of "error" has become one of the major problems in language learning. In this article an attempt is made to examine the important dimensions of Error Analysis, with specific reference to the errors produced by learners of Tamil as a second language at Gauhati University. The paper deals with the scope of Tamil language-learning in Assam and the explanations of different categories of language error committed by students and the solution to the error.</p> ER -
