Abstract

Proverbs are used as gateways to express the thoughts, living conditions and beliefs of the society. Proverbs also express the cultural elements. In that way in Vaishnava religious songs, especially in the hymns, Alwars have used proverbs to preach, moralize and rebuke indirectly. Thirumangai Alwar has used many proverbs. In particular, it is known that proverbs are used in the places where the mother sympathizes with the Lord (Kannan) in an attempt to connect the heroine (Parakala Nayaki). In particular they have been divided into the categories of biological elements, metaphorical welfare, emotional and religious philosophical elements. As it fully composed of proverbs it is called “Song of Proverbs”.
