Abstract

In today's mechanized social environment, bringing up children with cultural values is full of challenges. Especially, bringing up girls is also a major problem. Child rearing is called parenting. Parenting is related to culture. Culture is a systematized pattern of human activities. Every man tries to identify himself with culture. Human creation without culture is impossible. Religious and philosophical ideologies play an important role in cultural formation. Once a child is born, its parents want to raise it according to their culture. There are many forms of culture such as traditional, modern, liberation and spiritual. The upbringing of children is based on the above principles. Concepts like freedom, slavery interferes with cultural activities such as food, dress and speech. Do I want to pass on the legacy to my children? Do I want to get rid of the slavery? Or should tradition and culture be nurtured with a sense of liberation? The problem and confusion will arise for the parents while upbringing their children. In a sense this is also an identity problem. This problem was solved by the collection of Vanilla's "Iravu Varaintha Oviyam". The role of the mother in child rearing, especially in rearing a female child, is very important. This article examines Vanilla's poems, which are composed of mother-daughter dialogues.
