Abstract
The relationship between husband and wife is the foremost of family relations, which is a fundamental element of the broad system of community and society. The family is a small-scale structure consisting of a husband, wife, and children. The man and the woman who are bound together in marriage fall in love and have sons and attain the status of the family in society. The individual relationship is bound up with the family and the family relationship is bound up with society. The individual's mental well-being and the family's mental well-being depend on the relationship. Though there are various kinds of relations spoken of in the Sangam hymns and the grammar books like Tholkappiyam etc., the relationship of the man and the harlots becomes the medium of the Marutham Thinai songs. There are problems in the family as the man is in a relationship with a harlot. This article deals with the relationship between the man, the harlot, and the problems that arise.
