Abstract

Kambar is a well known poet and very famous for his text kambaramayanam. It is a very great epic about love and friendship. Just as Valluvar has expressed the thoughts of friendship in his poems, Kambar, who later created the story of the hero Rama about friendship in his epic Kambaramayanam has also occupied a special place in the hearts of the readers. Kambar has used Thirukkural's thoughts on love and friendship to clearly reveal the necessity of understanding, the relationship between rare life and body, and showing love to other living beings. Friendship is that one restrains his friend from evil ways and leads him to good ways and shares his sufferings. This article aims to point out how Kambar's definition about love and friendship is same as shown in Thiruvalluvar's Thirukkural.
