Abstract

The role of the novel in modern Tamil literature is so great that it is possible to convey through the novel a lot of information which neither poetry nor a short story can speak of, because it is possible to write extensively in the form of a novel. Although the novel is valued as a gift of the shoe era, it can be regarded as doing a great job of recording the dynamics of Tamil society. From individual intelligence to society, caste, region, local history, the history of the struggle of the trade unions, the history of the Indian freedom struggle, the life records of the department, urbanization and the economic crises that result from it, etc., have been recorded. In this article, Dharman's novel Thoorvai is examined from the point of view of religious anthropology.
