Abstract
Tirukkural is an prominent and incomparable work in Tamil literature. Through Thirukkural Tamil language reached a specific place in world. Thirukkural is unique among the literary works he accomplished. At a time when religious principles were being inculcated as the highest virtues in the Tamil society, the book that strengthened the social justice concepts is Thirukkural. Thirukkural was a book that rose to global prominence in a time when some books were only reserved for a certain class people. Periyar, who voiced out for social justice till his death such as rejection of caste and religion, said that Thirukkural is a rejection of Manu Dharma. Today one who talks about social justice cannot avoid Thirukkural. To that extent, Thirukkural remains as a public virtue that people admire. Now a days everyone distorts and changes the history of Valluvar according to their own interests. Many people have made an effort to make it for themselves. However, Thirukkural stand on its own merits. Alagappan's Thiruvalluvar play explains the rift between Thiruvalluvar and human morality. This essay is to explore and express his plays in the theoretical approach of dramaturgy.
