Abstract
Greetings and worship have been followed for many years, Tamil literature highlights that people have been living in different parts of the land and it can be seen that there were separate deities worshiped for each part of the land. In the inner life and in the outer life, the worship of the deity has achieved excellence and it can be known through the life and worship of the ancients. Rituals are associated with human culture. There is a belief among the people that the work undertaken after worshipping deities and the work will be successful and will end well. Thus, worships have become one of the cultural traditions. Silappathikaram is a versatile repository with many known news items. Considering the contribution to the history of Tamil Nadu during the Sangam period and the knowledge of the traditions followed by the Tamils, the multifaceted traditions of deity worship in Silapathikaram are examined in this article.
