Abstract

Salma, a female author, has written two novels namely Irandam Jamangalin Kathai and Manamiyangal. The characters in these novels highlight the woes, sorrows and stress of women. It also manifests women's rights and emancipation and also about women breaking their oppression. It was Salma who talks about the life of Muslim women in Tamil literature. The novel Irandam Jamangalin Kathai story of Salma's second is about the life of women who are locked up in the house, their sorrows and horrors. The second novel Manamiyangal which was written 10 years later examines the lives of the women. It indirectly points out the relationship between women slavery, religion and imperialism. The women characters in the novels lose their rights and fighting for it. Their inner need, search and their quest for liberation are clearly explained by Salma in these novels. The anxieties of Pirthavs, Wahitha and many other women characters are clearly stated in these novels. Their requirement, solution and decision is taken by them and Salma's novels accurately reveal that theirl liberation decision was right in every way. The purpose of this novels is that Muslim women should come forward to get their rights. Salma's novels boldly suggest that the story of women's emancipation in these novels is a model for other women who are suffering for their rights. Salma says that Nabigal Nayagam's era is completely different from today's Islamic age and she insists the readers to change accordingly and to live in the present.
