Abstract
Va. Ra is called V. Ramasamy Iyengar was born on 17/09/1889 in Tingalore near Thirupalanam in Thanjavur district as the first son of Varadaraja Iyengar and Ponnammal. He did his school at the age of eight in Bangalore He learned English along with Tamil. He did his post-graduation in Central High School, Tiruvaiyaru. He passed the matriculation examination in 1905. Joined St. Peter's College, Thanjavur and studied F.A. Then he failed in the FA exam. He was upset. He wanted to join Surendranath Banerjee's National College located in Calcutta. Went to Calcutta. Va. Ra returned home unable to join the college due to lack of proper recommendation. Va. Ra was involved in politics, freedom struggle, revival in politics, social reform and he was interested in literary works
