Abstract
Among the books of the Sangam age, Ettutogai books have a special place. Among them, Purananooru is noteworthy. In the Ettutokai texts, especially Purananooru, Pathi; The poems like Rupathu etc., are a historical document and a symbol of Tamil culture. The great culture of the Tamils in the Sangam age is evident from the poems. Charity is the foremost of all virtues. Charity is the act of giving money to the needy. The Sangam Tamils protected love and valour with two eyes. However, the poems extol the gift of valour. The word 'give' is 'give| It is derived from the root word. The act of giving takes place in human beings. Gifts may be material, money, food, blood or land. In ancient times, the Tamils cherished the noble virtue of philanthropy.
