Abstract
Nagai, is now known as Nagapattinam due to the special coating of the Naga Adiseshan. In that city a great slave of lord Siva named Adhipathar was lived as a chief of fisher men. He was known for his material wealth and Bhakthi. He had the great heart to sacrifice everything for Lord Siva. He follows this approach in his day today fishing profession. Sundararperuman praised the Nayanar in Thiruththondaththokai that, ‘He is the slave of Athipathar’. Nambiyandar Nambi in Thiruththondath Thiruvanthathi that, Athipathar is the man with real bhakthi’. The Author of PeriyaPuranam Sekizhar Swamigal also praised him as, ‘Anbil Sirantha Athipaththar’. This article deals the great Bhakthi of Athipathar with the reference of Periyapuranam.
